How to start drawing?

Heyo!

I am very new to drawing and only started quite recently by buying a bunch of papers and a pen and then started to draw Pokemons using the original image as reference. It is going very good (I think) but where do you go from there?

Do I just practice and practice? What should I practice? How do you go from a pretty simple drawing to a Bob Ross painting or something else with a lot of detail and is classified as really good art?

Thanks for the recommendation! But is there any site that I could maybe learn from instead? I prefer the internet towards books and spending as little money as possible. :)

Well if you want to draw realistically you could start drawing from life, still life's are a good idea. Practice shading and adding value to your work. Remember that as you draw you continually build value by adding more layers so start from the darkest darks and eventually move into other areas to build up midtones. Work on getting the right proportions of whatever subject you're drawing. You can start by laying out the basic shape of one part of the subject and using that as a reference for other parts. Art is subjective so don't worry about creating a great work.

I don't want to strictly draw realistic art, I want to cartoony and semi realistic art aswell.
